Women's Soccer
The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team has been an intercollegiate sport since the fall of 1981. Head coach Nate Wiley is a 1999 graduate of SUNY Geneseo and has a record of 26-23-5 after three seasons. The program was started by Fred Bright and has compiled a record of 317-171-42 in its 28 seasons.
In 2008, the team finished with an 11-7-2 record. The Knights posted a record of 7-2-1 in SUNYAC, defeating New Paltz in the first round of the SUNYAC tournament, before falling to eventual champion Oneonta in the semifinals. The Geneseo defense, led by first team All-SUNYAC senior Lindsey Feuz and third team All-SUNYAC sophomore Meghan Verdino, allowed just 1.07 goals per game. Juniors Melissa Beale (4 goals, 6 assists) and Stephanie Bergin (5-4) and sophomore Jane Matejcik (5-4) led the team in scoring with 14 points. Bergin earned second team All-SUNYAC recognition, while Beale and junior midfielder Katie Price garnered third team certificates. Senior Ashley Modica added 13 points on six goals and one assist, first year Bella Masotti netted five goals and one assist for 11 points and first year Corinne Santariello contributed 10 points on four goals and two helpers. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Clerkin notched a 0.97 goals against average in 1756 minutes with nine shutouts on her way to third team All-SUNYAC. | Team Links
