SUNY Geneseo: Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation

Women's Lacrosse

The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team has been an intercollegiate sport since the spring of 1996. Head coach Carly Ritchlin is a 2001 graduate of SUNY Cortland and has a record of 68-26 after six seasons. The program was started by Sue Behme and has compiled a record of 127-72 in its 14 seasons.

In 2009, the team posted a record of 10-6. During the regular season, Geneseo posted a SUNYAC fourth-place record of 6-3 and lost in the SUNYAC semifinals to top-seeded Buffalo State. Senior first team All-Empire Region and first team All-SUNYAC selection Maggie Morris set a school record for points in a season, finishing with 79 points on a school record 62 goals and 17 assists and completes her career second on the Geneseo charts in goals (154) and third in points (196). Morris topped Geneseo with 57 groundballs and 26 caused turnovers and added 42 draw controls. Senior Laura Kitts completes her Geneseo career with a single-season record of 33 assists and a career assist ranking of third with 65 after notching 42 points and second team All-SUNYAC in 2009. Junior Abby Hungerford contributed 41 points on 26 goals and 15 assists with 49 draw controls, junior Tara Murphy netted 33 scores with two assists for 35 points and sophomore Anna Hutchings added 16 goals and 10 helpers to her team-high 50 draws, 52 groundballs and 24 caused turnovers. Sophomore Lauren Burgoon and senior Eileen Coyle topped 20 points with 19 goals, six assists and 12 goals, eight assists, respectively. On defense, junior Caryn Quinn earned first team All-SUNYAC, second team All-SUNYAC senior Jessica Gunner had 24 caused turnovers, 41 groundballs and 33 draws and Justine Thorner posted 44 groundballs, 17 caused turnovers and 20 draws. Senior Hannah McKee posted a 10.96 goals against with a .473 save percentage in playing 903 of 966 minutes in nets on her way to second team All-SUNYAC. Kitts and senior defender Cat Sligar were named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team.
