Men's Hockey
The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team has been an intercollegiate sport since the 1975-76 season. Head coach Chris Schultz is a 1997 graduate of SUNY Geneseo and has a record of 38-39-1 in his three seasons. The program was started by Paul Duffy and has compiled a record of 468-430-51 in its 34 seasons.
In 2008-09, the men's hockey team posted a record of 14-12-1. The Ice Knights finished the conference regular season with a third place record of 8-7-1 and defeated Buffalo State in the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs before falling to #2 Oswego in the semifinals. Junior defenseman Jeff MacPhee scored four goals with 11 assists for 15 points on his way to honorable mention All-SUNYAC recognition. Junior Sebastian Panetta led the team in scoring with 23 points on seven goals and 16 assists and classmate Dan Brown added 10 goals and 12 helpers for 22 points. Senior Casey Balog scored 18 points on nine goals, nine assists and senior Kevin Galan added six assists to his team-high 11 goals, seven of which came on the power play. First year linemates Jonathan Redlick (8 g-8 a), Clint Olson (8-6) and Stefan Decosse (4-8) combined for 42 points on the year. First year Cory Gershon and senior Jeff Pasemko split time in nets with Gershon going 7-7-0 with a 3.23 GAA and a .900 save percentage and Pasemko posting a 7-5-1 record, a 3.14 goals against average and a .887 save percentage. |
